The time for change

Life events have a way of making you re-assess choices and direction.

After a number of years caring for and sadly losing my partner to early-onset dementia, I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to recharge and channel my energies into a creative outlet and decided to pause my career in I.T. and re-train as a jeweller-goldsmith/silversmith.

I’ve been absolutely delighted at the response to my work at my first exhibition at Winter Jewels In November 2022. Subsequent successful exhibitions have included Southampton Makers Spring Market in March 2023, Titchfield Art and Craft Show in April 2023 and Spring Jewels May 2023.

Recycle - upcycle

The precious metal I used is sourced from companies who sell recycled bullion. The silver has been recovered without the need for fresh mining and refining.

I’ve created my collections deliberately on the principle of reusing ‘waste’ material. I combine recycled and repurposed materials to elevate them and show their beauty and value.

From defunct electronics, through single-use packaging, to waste wood from a furnture restorer, my designs are driven by the materials I’ve sourced.

We all overlook and discard these materials and resources - and all the energies and processing that have gone into them – with rarely a second thought. I hope to give them a second life and remind us of their worth.

I’m not plastic-free. But hopefully in a good way - Any of my designs that use plastic use it to ensure that single-use plastic,.. well.., isn’t.

Each collection will exist for as long as I have the appropriate recovered materials. Once that’s gone it’s time for a new collection.
